"LIFE ON THE LAKE" INSERTS IN FOCUS ON SCUGOG MAGAZINE
The Scugog Lake Stewards have been discussing topics of importance to those living around Lake Scugog for three years in their "Life on the Lake" quarterly inserts in FOCUS on Scugog magazine. For these four page environmental information articles, we often work with our close partner, Kawartha Conservation (KRCA). On other ideas we work with groups such as Well Wise, Well Aware, the Trent-Severn Waterway, Durham Region Health, the Township of Scugog, the Ministry of Natural Resources and others to ensure the articles are accurate and to the point.
We are especially proud of several of these articles listed below:
This September 2007 issue, the Stewards were trying to combat negative stories regarding the lake and living in Scugog. The first article on pages 1 and 2, "Ten reasons to be grateful you live near Lake Scugog" we are especially proud of and it rings true even today. The second article in this issue of the magazine on Page 3, entitled "Where do we start first" is a story developed with our partner, Kawartha Conservation, as a first educational step for the public outlining the ideas of the Lake Scugog Environmental Management Plan. Page 4, entitled "the Lake Weed Story" outlines the nature of our biggest lake problem - Eurasian water milfoil overgrowth and outlines the beginning of our actions toward counteracting that problem using additional native milfoil weevils as a bio-control.
We have many more articles that will be loaded soon.
