SCUGOG CONNECTIONS is your local education and awareness office for the Lake Scugog Environmental Management Plan (LSEMP).  We are working towards a healthy watershed and improved water quality to ensure long term environmental, economic and social sustainability of the Lake and its resources.

We offer information materials and workshops to help you ensure that actions that affect the environment are sustainable such as reducing the impact of your rural property or how to incorporate natural gardening practices for your urban home -- we can help.

Scugog Connections is encouraging everyone in the community to play an active role in the health of our environment and promote responsible water stewardship.

UPDATE : Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup

Scugog Connections would like to extend a big THANK YOU to participants who came out on Saturday Sept. 18, 2010 for the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup! It was a very successful day, along one kilometer of shoreline in downtown Port Perry we picked up 10 bags of garbage, 1 tire, and a total weight of 170 lbs of waste. Without you, this would not have been possible.

Trash is one of the most widespread pollution problems threatening out waterways – yet it is entirely preventable. Cleanups such as this help to bring communities together to achieve positive impacts on the environment both here in Port Perry, and around the world. With community participation in the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup, we have helped to make a difference. See the summary form below to see the total amount of garbage that was collected, take a look and be proud of what your community accomplished!

Keep your eye on www.shorelinecleanup.ca  in October for updated results on the Cleanups that happened across the shorelines of Canada this week!
